Thai Dishes you must Try

Thai cuisine is top of the polls for its subtle blend of wonderful flavours. It’s a hot favourite and gaining popularity all around the globe.  If you are in London and looking for a Thai restaurant then you must ask for the nearest Thai Square.

If you are fond of cooking Thai food, then you must keep a few things handy: fish sauce, green curry, sweet basil, coconut milk, brown sugar and even frozen kaffir lime and galangal. Here are some of our favorite Thai dishes that you may not have heard of:

Tom Yum Goong

This is a spicy and sour soup with shrimp. Whenever I eat at Thai Square, I always order this lovely soup. Ingredients included cilantro or coriander, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and mushrooms. The authentic recipe is with shrimps but some people use chicken instead.

Tom Kaa Gai

The main ingredients to this chicken soup are coconut milk, lemon grass, and galangal. Thai food is known for its balanced flavour of sweet, salty, sour and spicy. This soup is rather sweet and not too spicy. You can also have it as a complete meal just by ordering rice with it.

Pad Thai

This is Thailand’s best known noodle dish.  It can be eaten both at day-time or night. If you want to have the best Pad Thai then you must visit a Thai Square restaurant. This is a simple yet mouthwatering dish. It is also a favourite amongst children.

Gang Keaw Wan Gai

This is also called the green curry chicken. It is a traditional Thai curry, spicy and flavoured with Thai herbs and ingredients. It goes well with steam rice or ka-nom-jeen (rice noodles).

Pad Kra Pow

This is a stir fried dish of seafood or meat with Thai sweet basil and chilies. The holy basil is a Thai herb and is used as a spice in Thai cuisine. Sweet basil is said to have medicinal properties. You can make this dish as per your taste. The choice of meat depends on you. You can use chicken, beef, pork or shrimps. Some people are allergic to sea-food so they can add chicken instead of shrimps. It is simple yet delicious. Traditionally, Thai people have it with rice and a fried egg on top.
